West Heath School

In the summer of 2018 K&G Engineering undertook some work at West Heath School in Sevenoaks. This work involved extending the safety fencing surrounding two fire escapes. At all times K&G acted in an extremely professional manner. They were thorough prior to the work commencing, communication was excellent. The team that carried out the work did so in a very professional way, working with our staff to ensure minimal disruption. The completed work was finished to a high standard. We would definitely use K&G Engineering again for any similar projects.

Directors

Company Director

Kevin Waugh

Kevin has over 40 years’ experience working in the engineering sector. He started his career at Aylesford Newsprint but soon moved on to work for Kimberly Clark where he stayed for over 15 years. It was while working at Kimberly Clark that Kevin met his business partner, and together they set up K&G Engineering. Their motivation in starting their own company came from a belief that an engineering company should be forward thinking, proactive to clients’ needs and have a positive approach to any engineering task clients may request.

When asked about the success of K&G, Kevin comments ‘I believe 100% in K&G, a family based business that has embraced the values instilled when the company was formed: delivering service and commercial attitude without sacrificing quality. This enables us to achieve our goal: engineering excellence’.

In his spare time Kevin throws himself into his hobbies with the same 100% commitment that is behind K&G. He plays walking football and runs a successful men’s side Malgo FC in Maidstone. Kevin also has a keen interest in collecting the history of Militaria.

Finance Director

Debbie Waugh

After leaving school, Debbie worked in one of the High Street Banks, building up her knowledge of finance and accounts. This experience proved invaluable when she became part of the K&G team over 20 years ago, initially working on a part time basis.  As the company expanded, so has Debbie’s involvement and she now works full time as Finance Director.

Debbie enjoys the challenges that working at K&G brings and has seen the business go from strength to strength over the years. Along with her dedicated team, Debbie ensures the smooth running of K&G’s finances and administration.

Notwithstanding Debbie’s full time involvement with K&G, she has mastered the ability to be able to spend quality time with her children and grandchildren. Debbie’s culinary skills are well appreciated by the family and the Jamie Oliver course she attended recently has only enhanced their love of her cooking.

Director

Alex Waugh

Alex has always had an interest in K&G and has now been involved in the family business for the past 16 years. After working hard he passed a 4-year apprenticeship along with a Level 3 National Diploma in Engineering Operations and Maintenance and various welding qualifications and codings.

With his skills and knowledge of the industry and good understanding of project management, he has now worked his way up to director level and has recently passed an SMSTS training scheme becoming qualified to set up and manage CDM worksites.

Having achieved success in his ‘engineering day job’, Alex focuses his spare time on his first love of a young growing family and his second love of football now returning (after a semi successful career in non-league football) to his boyhood local team.

Director of Engineering Operations

Lee Winter

Lee joined K&G in 2003 whilst studying at university, starting as a trainee fabricator and mechanical fitter. After graduating in 2006 with a degree in financial management, he moved into a purchasing and CAD design role within the company. He has since progressed from project engineer to Director of Engineering Operations in 2013; to company director in 2018. Lee is SMSTS trained for managing CDM worksites and is K&G’s responsible welding coordinator for certifying our CE marked products.

After previously playing for and managing an 11 a side football team, Lee now concentrates his spare time on his two loves – his young family and playing golf. Unfortunately for Lee, his full dedication and commitment to the cause has yet to be reflected in his golf handicap!
